2016 Summer Olympics Venue

The cauldron for the 2008 Olympics is still burning in Beijing, but cities are already fighting to be the host of 2016 Olympics.

The host city of the 2016 Olympic Games will be announced at the 121st IOC Session in Copenhagen, Denmark, on October 2, 2009. Chicago, Madrid, Tokyo and Rio de Janeiro are the cities shortlisted by the International Olympic Committee.

The strongest contender in terms of infrastructure, support and money is Chicago, which is bidding to host the first summer Olympics in America since Atlanta in 1996. The Americans will however have to improve the technical aspect of their bid after an IOC evaluation report ranked Tokyo and Madrid higher than Chicago, with Rio in fourth place.

I believe Barack Obama will become the next President of the United States, hold 2 terms - the second ending in 2016. He will have great influence on the Olympics being held in Chicago...of course I thought Al Gore was going to be the next president also.

Not in another asian country, or chicago because I hate them.... just kidding, maybe. But South America seems over due to host.

Similar to FIFA, I think the IOC will be thinking about not having the games hosted by a country of the same continent too soon. Beijing has its Olympics in 2008, and London will be hosting it in 2012, so that makes both Tokyo and Madrid unlikely. Brazil should get the games, but how much power do they have in the IOC to convince others is questionable. The Olympics seem to be going to the USA every decade or so: LA in 84, Atlanta in 96, it's probably time for another US city in 16.

If what you said is true, then USA does have a good chance. But I certainly hope Rio Brazil will get it.
